Tourist Car Rental Association: 20,000 Private Cars Are Rented Out Outside Licensed Offices in Jordan

Al-Taj News – Marwan Akoubeh, President of the Association of Tourist Car Rental Offices, said that around 20,000 private cars not affiliated with licensed offices are being rented out, warning against fake pages on social media platforms that lure citizens, tourists, and expatriates with low rental offers and seize their money.

He added that the association had received around 40 complaints during the past period regarding these practices, noting that a number of those affected do not file official complaints.

He explained that the fake pages exploit the short duration of tourists’ stays and their lack of sufficient time to file a complaint, as they ask those wishing to rent to transfer sums of money as a deposit before they stop responding to them.

He pointed out that the association will publish the names of the fake pages in the coming weeks, after handing them over to the security authorities, with the aim of warning citizens and tourists against dealing with them.
